Day 1, Friday
– Leaving on a jet plane
Meet at the Edmonton/Calgary airport (departures from both)
Depart from Canada for Verona, Italy
|
Day 2, Saturday – Arrival and
welcome dinner
Arrive in Verona
Meet your bilingual tour manager who will take care of all your needs during
your Italian tour. Load the bus and depart for your Verona hotel.
Arrive and check in to the hotel, short free time to relax.
Depart for a short time downtown to explore the city (time permitting).
Return to the hotel
Welcome dinner at a restaurant, evening free

Day 3, Sunday – Full day in
Venice
Breakfast at the hotel
Depart for day trip to Venice
Venice was a major maritime power during the middle ages and the renaissance
thus an important center of commerce and art. Venice, famous for it’s canals,
is built on 117 small islands and is one of Europe’s most romantic cities.
Arrive at the Tronchetto parking area and departure to the heart of Venice
(San Marco's square) by boat
Arrive at San Marco's square and guided visit of the city centre including
St. Mark’s Square, the Doge’s Palace, Bridge of Sighs, and the Basilica of
St. Mark
After the guided tour maybe enjoy a gondola ride on the canals (not included)
Lunch on your own today
Afternoon is at leisure for some shopping and sightseeing
Return to the parking area and return to Verona
Dinner at a restaurant, evening free

Day 4, Monday – Verona and Milan
Breakfast at the hotel, check out of the hotel
Depart for Verona city center
Verona is one of the main tourist destinations in northern Italy due to it’s
artistic heritage, fairs, shows and operas in the Arena, the ancient Roman
amphitheatre. Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet was based in Verona.
Morning guided sightseeing tour of Verona including Romeo and Juliet’s Balcony
at the Casa di Giulietta, the Roman Arena and Piazza Bra, Piazza Erbe, and
the Piazza dei Signori
Short free time to sightsee, shop and have lunch on own
In the afternoon depart for Milan
Arrive in downtown Milan
Milan is recognized as a world fashion and design capital with a major influence
in commerce, industry, music, sport, literature, art and media.
Afternoon free time in central Milan near the Galleria, the Santa Maria Della
Grazia Duomo and La Scala Opera House to sightsee on own
Depart for the hotel
Arrive the Milan/Como area hotel and check in to the hotel
Dinner at the hotel or a restaurant, evening free

Day 5, Tuesday – Lake Como and
the Ferrari Museum
Breakfast at the hotel, check out of the hotel
Depart for the city center for a three hour boat excursion on Lake Como including
a stop in the famous town of Bellagio.
Lake Como has been a popular retreat for aristocrats and wealthy people since
Roman times, and a very popular tourist attraction with many artistic and
cultural gems. Many celebrities have or had homes on the shores of Lake Como,
such as Madonna, George Clooney, Gianni Versace, Sylvester Stallone and Richard
Branson.

Depart for the Florence area
Stop at the Ferrari Museum in Maranello and visit with audio guides
Founded by Enzo Ferrari in 1929, as Scuderia Ferrari, the company sponsored
drivers and manufactured race cars before moving into production of street-legal
vehicles as Ferrari S.p.A. in 1947.
Continue to Florence and check in to the hotel
Evening free in downtown Florence for dinner on own

Day 6, Wednesday
– Pisa and Florence
Breakfast at the hotel
Depart for Pisa to see the famous square with the leaning tower
Pisa is at the mouth of the Arno river on the Ligurian Sea and is famous
worldwide for the leaning tower, which is the bell tower of the city’s cathedral.
Free time in Pisa to sightsee, shop and have lunch on own
Depart for Florence city center
Florence is the capital of Tuscany and in famous for it’s art, architecture
and cultural heritage mainly due to it’s wealth in medieval times.
Arrive in Florence and stop at the Piazzale Michelangelo for a magnificent
view
Afternoon guided walking tour of Florence including the Basilica of Santa
Croce, Palazzo Strozzi, Palazzo Dvanzati, the Ponte Vecchio, Piazza della
Signoria, Palazzo Vecchio and the Piazza Duomo with the famous Basilica di
Santa Maria del Fiore and Baptistry
Afternoon is at leisure for some shopping and sightseeing
Dinner included at a restaurant

Day 7, Thursday – Tuscany’s
towns and a Chianti winery tour
Breakfast at the hotel, check out of the hotel
Morning depart for a special visit to a Chianti winery
Chianti is a red wine produced in the Tuscany region of Italy using mainly
Sangiovese grapes. The wine recipe was created in the mid 19th century.
Enjoy the guided tour of the winery and a wine tasting where you will learn
aboutthe tradition of and the process of making a world famous wine.
Depart for San Gimignano
Enjoy a short tour and free time in San Gimignano, which is famed for its
medieval skyscrapers, high walls and narrow streets that typify most peoples
image of a Tuscan hill town. In the mid 14th century it suffered from the
Black Death.
Depart for Siena
Arrive in Siena and have some free time for lunch on own
Siena, unchanged since Medieval times, is a must-see attraction of Tuscany.
A guided tour includes the "Piazza del Campo" where the famous Palio horse
race takes place every year.
Depart for Rome
Arrive in Rome and check in to the hotel

Day 8, Friday – Ancient Rome
and the Vatican
Breakfast at the hotel
Rome (Roma in Italian) is the capital of Italy with a history that spans
2500 years. The Roman Empire/Republic was the dominant power in Western Europe
for over 700 years until the 7th century AD. As a result of its past glory,
Rome is full of historic sites, monuments and museums.
Morning guided walking tour of Ancient Rome including the Capitol, Trajan’s
Markets, the Forum, Colosseum (entrance included), Constantine’s Arch. Finally
the Palantine Hill from where you can see the ruins of the Circus Maximus.
Free time for lunch on own
After lunch depart for the Vatican City
The Vatican City, established in 1929, is an independent state within Rome
and is the head of the Catholic Church and includes the Apostolic Palace,
the residence of the Pope. The 88 hectare walled territory includes St. Peter’s
Basilica and the Vatican Musuems with an immense collection accumulated by
the church.
Afternoon guided tour of the Vatican Museums including the Sistine Chapel.
The tour continues to St. Peter’s Basilica and the vast St. Peters Square.
Depart for dinner included at a restaurant or at the hotel
Return to the hotel, evening free

– Free day in Rome
Breakfast at the hotel, check out of the hotel
Today is a free day for you to explore Rome on your own
The bus will do a drop off in the morning to select locations

Day 10,
Sunday – Day trip to Pompeii and the Amalfi Coast
Breakfast at the hotel
Early morning depart for Pompeii
Pompeii was destroyed and buried during a long and catastrophic eruption
of the Volcano Mout Vesuvius that lasted two days in AD79. The eruption buried
Pompeii under 4-6 meters of ash and pumice and was lost for nearly 1700 years
until it was accidentally discovered in 1749.
Arrive in Pompeii for a guided tour of the archeological site including the
Macellum (food market), the Thermal Baths and some of the homes of wealthy
citizens
Depart for the Amalfi Coast
The Amalfi Coast is a popular tourist destination located on a relatively
steep shore just south of Naples. The area is famous for it’s limoncello
liqueur.
Stop near Sorrento for a magnificent view
Continue to two of the best towns on the coast
Enjoy free time in the town of Positano to sightsee and have lunch on own
Next is the picturesque town of Amalfi where you will enjoy free time
Return to Rome for a late farewell dinner
