About the VIVA ESPANA Tour

Azorcan invites you to join us on trip of a lifetime to Spain! The Viva Espana tour will depart from Canada on November 13 for Madrid. We have flights held from Edmonton but we can look at other gateways or you can book your own air and meet us in Madrid.

We begin our journey in Madrid, the vibrant capital of Spain. We will enjoy a Flamenco dinner show and explore iconic sites such as the Royal Palace and Plaza Mayor. You will have free time to visit world-renowned museums like the Prado and Reina Sofia and to enjoy the nightlife and tapas bars in the La Latina neighbourhood. From Madrid we will do day trips to Segovia and Toledo.

The ancient city of Toledo is known for its rich history and cultural blend of Christian, Muslim, and Jewish influences. Key attractions include the Toledo Cathedral and the Alcázar.

Segovia, famous for its stunning Roman aqueduct and fairy-tale castle, the Alcázar of Segovia. The city’s historic center is a UNESCO World Heritage site and offers picturesque views and charming streets. After the tour we will have Segovia’s traditional famous dish, suckling pig.

From Madrid we will travel north to La Rioja, Spain's premier wine region where we will enjoy picturesque landscapes and wine tastings. We will visit the medieval hill top town of Laguardia and one of its traditional wineries. In the afternoon we will visit the Marqués de Riscal, named the "The Best Vineyard in the World" and "The Best Vineyard in Europe".

From La Rioja, proceed to San Sebastián on the northern coast. Known for its beautiful beaches and culinary scene, spend time walking at La Concha beach and sampling pintxos (Basque tapas) in the Old Town. We will go to Monte Igueldo for panoramic views of the bay and weather permitting a brief cruise of the bay.

On the way to Barcelona we will stop in Zaragoza to visit the Aljafería Palace and have free time to explore the old town.

In Barcelona, you can immerse yourself in Catalan culture. We will visit Antoni Gaudí's masterpieces, the Sagrada Familia and Park Güell. During free time explore the Gothic Quarter and enjoy shopping along Las Ramblas. From Barcelona we will take trips to Montserrat and the Costa Brava.

Montserrat is home to a stunning 1000 year old Benedictine monastery set against dramatic mountain scenery. We will take the cog wheel train up to the site, enjoy a guided tour and have free time to visit the market. In the evening in Barcelona we will have a medieval dinner at the 13th century Requesens Palace.

On our final day we will take a trip to Costa Brava, known for its rugged coastline. During our trip we will enjoy breathtaking views of the Mediterranean Sea and stop at charming villages like Girona, Pals, Calella de Palafrugell and Begur. Our trip ends with a farewell dinner in Barcelona with local dishes and wine.

This itinerary allows you to experience a mix of urban life, historical sites, natural beauty, and culinary delights across some of Spain's most captivating regions.
