We are very excited that the 2024 World Juniors tournament will be held in Gothenburg, Sweden. The tournament will run from approximately December 26th, 2023 to January 5th, 2024. This is a hockey fan's trip of a lifetime that will also include great sightseeing, special events, souvenirs, gifts and many extras. This will be our 5th group tour to the World Juniors in Europe. We had great tours to Pardubice & Liberec (Czech 2008), Malmo (Sweden 2014), Helsinki (Finland 2016), plus Ostrava & Trinec (Czechia 2020).
We are Sweden experts with multiple youth hockey, ringette, soccer, and fan tours to Sweden since 1994. Gothenburg is not new to us. In October 2018 we took a group of Oilers fans to Gothenburg for the opening game of the 2018-19 NHL season against the New Jersey Devils. We have also conducted various tours to Gothenburg for the Gothia Cup soccer tournament.
In our OFFICIAL TOUR BROCHURE you can see all the events and sightseeing tours that our Azorcan staff are working on to include during the tournament. As you can see we are much more than just a hockey fan tour.
By keeping the size of our group at around 300 people we are able to have everyone comfortably enjoy these events and most importantly for us, we can retain a personal connection with our tour members. You are not just a number on an Azorcan tour.
We will have a VERY LIMITED number of places available so it is important that you get on our PRIORITY LIST before December 16th to get an advance opportunity to register.
I look forward to seeing you in Sweden!

Our WJ 2024 Host City Is Gothenburg, Sweden
Gothenburg is on the west coast of Sweden about a five hour drive from Stockholm which is on the east coast of Sweden. It is about three and a half hour drive from the Danish capital, Copenhagen. Gothenburg is the second largest city in Sweden and has a population of about 600,000 in the city and about one million in the metro area.
Winter temperatures in Gothenburg are mild. The high seasonal norm is 3°C. The seasonal minimum is -0°C. Thus, the mean temperature average on this month of January in Gothenburg is 2°C. You can expect to have about 14 days with temperatures under 0°C, or 45% of the month.
Gothenburg is known as the “Christmas City” so you will enjoy spending the holidays there. The Swede’s have "julmys" – a uniquely Swedish combination of ancient Nordic traditions and modern customs. The best Christmas market in Sweden can be found at the largest amusement park in the Nordic region, Liseberg. Enjoy winter-open thrill rides, millions of Christmas lights and stalls selling everything from knitted socks to home made sweets.
The Scandinavium and Frolundaborg Arenas
The entire tournament will be held in Gothenburg Sweden using the two biggest local arenas.
The major arena is the Scandinavium Arena, which looks very similar to the Calgary Saddledome, with a capacity of just 12,044 fans so it is not a huge facility. We were there with an Oilers group in 2018 and there are no bad seats in the arena. Canada is in Sweden’s pool and will be playing at the Scandinavium.
The second arena is the Frolundaborg, home to the local #SEL team, Frölunda HC, with a capacity of 7,600 fans. Canada will only play there in a QF game. A good portion of the capacity are standing places.
Since we will be staying in a central hotel and both arenas are in Gothenburg there is no problem if you want to skip our transfer to or from the games. Our hotel will be walking distance to the Scandinavium. The Frolundaborg is a short taxi ride from our hotel or you can use the fantastic public transportation in Gothenburg which uses an app on your phone for payment.
Azorcan Includes Great Sightseeing, Events and Parties
Here are some events and sightseeing tours that our Azorcan staff are working on to include during the tournament. As you can see we are much more than just a hockey tour. By keeping the size of our group at around 300 people or less we are able to have everyone comfortably enjoy these events and most importantly for us, we can retain a personal touch with our tour members. We look forward to sharing these great tours and events with you and creating memories of a lifetime.
Trips to Denmark & Norway
Enjoy a day trip to Denmark's capital city, Copenhagen. After enjoying a guided city tour maybe visit to the Tivoli Garden to admire the lights, markets and rides. Nyhavn is a 17th century waterfront, canal and entertainment district with
brightly coloured townhouses, bars and restaurants.
Experience Olso, Norway on our day trip that includes a guided city tour. During free time go to an Oslo Christmas market, or visit one of their great museums like the Norwegian Maritime Museum or the Viking Ship Museum. The Holmenkollbakken is a ski jumping hill where you can enjoy panoramic views of the Oslofjord.
Tours Around Gothenburg
In Gothenburg you will enjoy a guided tour of this interesting and beautiful city. There are great museums, shops, restaurants, and cafes to enjoy a "fika." We will enjoy the Christmas at the Liseberg Amusement Park, the home to Sweden's biggest Christmas Market with great food, events and activites. When you think of Swedish cars, you think of Volvo. We will visit their museum to admire the many cars in their history plus some of their other products. We will visit the Carlstens Castle and a Cold War bunker, the Aeroseum, that is now a museum.
