We are very excited that the 2024 World Juniors tournament will be held in Gothenburg, Sweden. The tournament will run from approximately December 26th, 2023 to January 5th, 2024. This is a hockey fan's trip of a lifetime that will also include great sightseeing, special events, souvenirs, gifts and many extras.
WE ARE SWEDEN EXPERTS with multiple youth hockey, ringette, soccer, and fan tours to Sweden since 1994. In October 2018 we took a group of Oilers fans to Gothenburg for the opening game of the 2018-19 NHL season against the New Jersey Devils. On that tour we included stops in Copenhagen, Stockholm and Helsinki. We have also conducted tours to Gothenburg for the Gothia Cup soccer tournament.
We will have a VERY LIMITED number of places available so it is important that you get on our PRIORITY LIST to receive our Azorcan WJ2024 Newletters about the World Juniors and to make sure you get an advance opportunity to register. If you have registered in the past for our Priority List then you will still be on it so there is no need to register again unless you have new contact information. If you are a past participant on one of our World Juniors tours you are automatically on our Past Participant section of the Priority List so there is no need to register for the Priority List.
We will start to register fans in late 2022 with a deposit. First opportunity will go to past participants, with a short window to register, then everyone else on the priority list before we open up the tour to the general public. Please see our REGISTRATION section for more information.
Be sure to subscribe to and listen to our PODCASTS for great updates and information.
On November 26, 2022 we will have a WJ2024 Tour Launch Party in Edmonton.
This will be our 5th group tour to the World Juniors in Europe. We had great tours to Pardubice & Liberec (Czech 2008), Malmo (Sweden 2014), Helsinki (Finland 2016), plus Ostrava & Trinec (Czech 2020).
I look forward to seeing you in Sweden!

Our WJ 2024 Host City Is Gothenburg, Sweden
Gothenburg is on the west coast of Sweden about a five hour drive from Stockholm which is on the east coast of Sweden. It is about three and a half hour drive from the Danish capital, Copenhagen. Gothenburg is the second largest city in Sweden and has a population of about 600,000 in the city and about one million in the metro area.
Winter temperatures in Gothenburg are mild. The high seasonal norm is 3°C. The seasonal minimum is -0°C. Thus, the mean temperature average on this month of January in Gothenburg is 2°C. You can expect to have about 14 days with temperatures under 0°C, or 45% of the month.
Gothenburg is known as the “Christmas City” so you will enjoy spending the holidays there. The Swede’s have "julmys" – a uniquely Swedish combination of ancient Nordic traditions and modern customs. The best Christmas market in Sweden can be found at the largest amusement park in the Nordic region, Liseberg. Enjoy winter-open thrill rides, millions of Christmas lights and stalls selling everything from knitted socks to home made sweets.
The Scandinavium and Frolundaborg Arenas
The entire tournament will be held in Gothenburg. The major arena is the Scandinavium Arena, which looks very similar to the Calgary Saddledome, with a capacity of 12,044 fans. The second arena is the Frolundaborg, home to the local SEL team, the Frolunda Indians, with a capacity of 7,600 fans.
We will not know where Canada is playing until the groups are announced following the 2023 WJ in Novosibirsk, Russia. It is safe to assume that Sweden’s pool will be playing at the Scandinavium and there is no guarantee that Canada will be in Sweden's pool.
Since we will be staying in a central hotel and both arenas are in Gothenburg there is no problem if you want to skip our transfer to the games or the transfer back to the hotel on your own after the game. A short taxi ride wil get you back to our base or you can use the fantastic public transportation in Gothenburg.
Azorcan Includes Great Sightseeing, Events and Parties
Here are some possible events and sightsseing that our Azorcan staff are working on to include during the tournament. As you can see we are much more than just a hockey tour. By keeping the size of our group at around 300 people or less we are able to have everyone comfortably enjoy these events and most importantly for us, we can retain a personal touch with our tour members. We look forward to sharing these great tours and events with you and creating memories of a lifetime.
